Abstract:
In this talk I will discuss simulation of circuits and river networks. Although governed by different physics laws (electrodynamics versus fluid dynamics), there are surprising similarities between the mathematical models of circuits and river networks, due to their common network nature. These similarities provide not only better understanding of problems in two domains, but also possibilities to leverage techniques from one domain to the other. In particular, I will discuss more efficient methods for various river dynamics simulation problems, which are two to three orders of magnitude more efficient than existing solutions.
